ABOUT

I've been Richmond for as long as I can remember.

And as a young man with disposable income, I was right into the Tigers in a big way.
Home and away, every week. As many venues as possible. Interstate, the lot.

And somewhere along the way, I left Richmond... not fully, but that whole week-in, week-out passion was gone.
Definable moments are not easy to see now, and the were certainly not clear then either.

This blog will be an occasional chance for me to write about my life on the fringes of black and yellow football. It wont be about match reports and who played well this week.
Plenty of them about without me joining in.

I hope to make it different to that, just like how Dugald Jellie and Chris Rees re-invented the footy fan blog.
And how John Carr has done the same with his homage to football, its history and its inter-twining with family.

These two websites, the content, and the writers, have changed the way I see football these past few years. They are a celebration of footballs moments. Not those of the grand stage and epic deeds on feild so much, but on how those moments affect the fans.

Those two websites have also inspired me, as has Andrew Gigacz and Stephen Downes.
Andrew's personal story, so open and exposed is also so enriching. It gives faith and hope of something better. Conversations with Steven always leave me with a feeling of wanting to look further into not only Melbourne, by my part in it.
Both have opened me to a world not considered before... to think differently and keep on writing.
Not something that come naturally, or with any of the polish of Dugald, or the openness and whimsy of John.

Hopefully it will be a considered blog, of thinking differently and reflecting on where people 'of football', but not 'in football', sit in the Melbourne social and footballing fabric. From a personal perspective, and also a broader social perspective.
